The SWBG Women?s Survey 2023 asked for women?s experiences on cost, access and safety when using public transport or active travel infrastructure in Scotland. They also asked for women?s views on how to improve services to meet their needs.

of women were dissatisfied or very dissastified about safety on walking or wheeling routes
871 women from all 32 local authorities in Scotland took part in the survey from February to March 2023, with findings including: 53% of women responding were very dissatisfied or dissatisfied with the cost of public transport; 48% of disabled women responding were either very dissatisfied or dissatisfied with the safety of walking and wheeling routes in their area; 57% of survey respondents felt questions on cycle routes were not applicable to their circumstances; 17% used walking/wheeling as the main mode of transport, this increased to 23% for single parents
